Accountability Report

Hello all, here is my accountability report for this week.  As you have probably already noticed, I missed my accountability reoprt for last week.  As promised, I will be making a donation to charity and will be sure to post proof of the donation in an upcoming entry.  Due to some unforseen circumstances, I have not had as much time to devote to blogging since my last report, so this post is going to be short and sweet:

What I've Done:

Umm...not much.  I have decided that I will be going with Aweber as my mail server for my newsletter and other email campaigns.  I have also written a couple of new articles for the site.  Installed an editorial calendar plugin onto my Wordpress.

What I've learned:

I've done a little more reading on email marketing and the importance of creating and sticking to an editorial calendar.

What I plan to do:

Still need to get going on twitter.
Get ready to launch the site!

Stay tuned for more updates!

Accountability Report

Okay, so here it is:  my second accountability report (coming in just at midnight - hubby and I were on the road all day).  Here's the summary of my week:

What I've Done:

Finally found a template for my site that doesn't completely suck!
Wrote another article and outlined my next few posts
Installed an editorial calendar into word press - hoping this will keep me on track with my writing
Did some more research on blog marketing
Looked around the web for other blogs that focus on my topic (didn't find many - don't know if that's good or bad)

What I learned:

Blogging is a BUSINESS. I'm okay with that though, as I'm very business minded.  I didn't realize before just how much work went into this whole blogging thing, though.  I'm very much looking forward to the challenge of growing this site into a successful business.

I have also learned about email marketing and am currently trying to decide between MailChimp and Aweber for my newsletter campaign (I'm heavily leaning toward Aweber at this point).

What I plan to do:

Start posting on twitter
Decide on a mailing service
Finish up my business plan (still working on that!)
and most importantly:  WRITE, WRITE, WRITE!

Accountability Report

Okay, so here it is, just as promised: my very first acocuntability report.  Wow, this has been an exciting week.  I've been learning and reading so much about creating a blog that my head feels as though it's been stretched to its limit.  So here's a summary of what I did this week:

What I've done:

Purchased domain name and set up blog
Set up GetClicky account
Created MailChimp account
Wet up Twitter account
Searched through a gazillion blog templates
Began working on the business plan provided on the Think Traffic website
Created a mindmap to plan my blog categories and posts
Purchased a calendar

and most importantly...

Planted my butt in a chair and wrote a draft of my first article!

What I have learned:

Almost too much to list here, lol.  Seriously, I've been doing so much reading my eyes are about to fall out of my head.  I have learned a lot about what goes into creating and marketing a blog.  There is just so much information our there!

What I Plan to Do:

In the next week, I will be working on an editorial schedule and working to write at least one other article.  I am also going to work on the overall design of the site.

Stay tuned!

Welcome to the Black Women Think Rich Journal

Hello World!

So I've finally decided to start a blog, and it's a project I'm very excited about.  I came across the perfect opportunity to finally get up off my butt and get my ideas into gear.  I stumbled across Think Traffic's $1 Million Dollar Blog Project, and just a few clicks later, www.BlackWomenThinkRich.com was born.

I can't wait to see where this project takes me.  I've learned so much about blogging and internet marketing, just in a matter of days.  It's amazing how much information is out there and how much there is to learn. I have a good deal of business experience in my personal likfe, and I'm really hoping to see this project take off and add value to my reader's lives.

I'll be using this site as an accountabiility journal, to document my progress on the BlackWomenThinkRich blog.  The main goal of this journal is to record the following:

What I have done.
What I have learned.
What I plan to do.

Simple as that.  What I've done, what I've learned, what I plan to do.  I'm committing to a weekly update schedule (every Sunday by midnight).  I thought about giving myself more time between updates, but I really feel like I need to stay on a more regular schedule if this thing is gonna happen.   So every Sunday.  Cool?

Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking.  This is called an ACCOUNTABILITY journal, which implies there should be some sort of...er, accountability for missed posts, right?

I absolutely agree.  Which is why I am also going to commit to paying $20 to a charitable cause for every missed accountability journal update.  And yes, I promise to provide proof.

Great, so time to get started on what I hope will be a wildly exciting campaign.  Stay tuned here and at the Black Women Think Rich Blog for more updates.
